We thought the first Bob James Jazz Festival in May 2011 was pretty special (fun, food and great music), but this year, the festival is shaping up to be especially special. And that's due in part to our special guest, Bob James.
The two-time Grammy winner from Marshall will return home to kick off the festival by conducting a master class at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 19, in Eckilson-Mabee Theatre on the Missouri Valley College campus. (Tickets are $10 at the door for anyone not registered for the clinic.)
The Bob James Jazz Festival is an opportunity to celebrate the music of Grammy-winning jazz pianist Bob James, celebrate and support Marshall's tradition of cultivating musical talent and enjoy a day of great jazz! The second annual Bob James Jazz Festival will take place Saturday, May 19, 2012, at Missouri Valley College and Bueker Middle School in Marshall.

The Bob James Jazz Festival clinic is an opportunity for are musicians to learn about jazz, improve understanding and technique, and have fun in the process. The Clinic is open mainly to high school, college and adult musicians. We have kept the clinic fee low ($35, which includes admission to the master class, the clinic and the concert!), but there are still local musicians who will not be able to attend without help. If you would be wiling to sponsor one or more student, please visit the website below to make a contribution via PayPal or credit card.
The master class with Bob James will be at Eckilson-Mabee Theater in the Tech Center just southeast of the College Street columns. The clinic will follow at Morrison Fine Arts Center just north of the football stadium:
